ABOUT ME

I am a fully qualified, experienced CBT psychotherapist, (BABCP registered –https://babcp.com/CBTRegister/Search#/), particularly specialising in working with children, Young People, their families as well as adults.

I have worked with Young People for over 20 years in a range of settings including The Priory, an in-patient CAMHS ward, NHS and in private practice and have experience supporting Young People and their families who face a range of difficulties. I am adaptive to each client’s needs and although I work within a CBT framework, I am able to adapt models to suit every client’s individual needs.

In addition, I am a fully qualified SEN teacher, with experience in State, Independent and Special Schools. I have an up-to-date working knowledge of the education system within England and can support young people and their families should they need to work with schools to support mental health needs.

My special interests are neurodevelopmental conditions and SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulties; dyslexia, slow-processing etc) and know how additional needs can cause a range of mental health difficulties if adequate support isn’t accessed. I am trained to administer the ADOS-2  (Gold standard, Standardised Assessment tool for Autism) and have additional CPD training in working therapeutically with young people with neurodevelopmental and SEN needs.

I have three years doctoral research at UCL in Psychoanalysis and Education, with a focus on the learning relationship in school. This included working with Young People in a number of settings to increase their ability to engage at school and the impact of this on their self-esteem.
