
TREATMENT PLANS
Although it is difficult to pin point the duration of sessions needed, the majority of CBT protocols are designed for up to 20 sessions. In the initial stages, it’s recommended that sessions are held weekly, often moving to fortnightly, or less frequently, as treatment progresses. In my experience, the duration of sessions depends on a range of factors and many of my clients are ready to complete their treatment within a much shorter time-frame, however some may benefit from longer-term treatment plans.
When working with Young People, I always ensure client confidentiality. However, I have found it can be hugely beneficial to work alongside parents, often having them in the room (especially if a Young Person is particularly anxious), or joining us from time to time, so that everyone is aware of the treatment plan and goals.
